A Good Level of Development measures children's attainment across the prime areas of learning and key aspects of literacy and mathematics at the end of Reception.

Our 2026 outcomes represent a significant improvement, with attainment increasing by 14 percentage points compared to the previous year. This reflects the strength of provision within our Early Years setting and ensures children are exceptionally well prepared for Key Stage 1.


Phonics

Year 1 Phonics Screening Check

The Phonics Screening Check assesses pupils' ability to apply their phonics knowledge when reading.

Pupils who do not meet the expected standard in Year 1 retake the assessment at the end of Year 2.

Our Year 2 outcomes are in line with national performance and demonstrate that the majority of pupils who did not meet the standard in Year 1 successfully catch up by the end of Key Stage 1.
