Year 6 Home Learning Plan 1
Firstly, thank you for your continued support, through a very stressful time.
Now that we have officially been instructed by the government to close our school from Friday 20th March, we wanted to share with you some ideas that will help support your child whilst at home. As a team, we will be regularly updating the Year Six blog with activities that your child can attempt at home.
Our school policy of reading at least five times per week will continue. As well as the books sent home, remember your child can read newspaper articles, non-fiction books, anything that captures their interest. The website below has free online books for children in Years 4,5 and 6.
Please continue to encourage your children to learn their times tables, you can support them in learning their tables, in order, out of order and then applying this to division. There is also a good website the children can play on to try to beat their score, which you may find useful:
The Year 3, 4, 5 and 6 spelling words have also been sent home in their packs. In addition to this, later blogs will include extra spelling lists that support spelling patterns. These will include activities such as word searches and games.
Finally, thank you again for your continued support, we hope the activities we’ll be providing are valuable. We appreciate that different levels of time available, motivation and ability, might mean your child may not complete all of the activities, so please don’t stress, just do what you can. This is a scary time and we know that children need to feel safe and secure to be able to learn! We are here to support you all, as best we can! That’s all for now, please look out for future Year Six blogs next week as we will continue to add details to keep those young minds active! As always, if you do need support, please contact us by email and we will respond as quickly as we can in school hours.
