Primary School

Hello and welcome to everyone who will be in our new Year 5 this September.

Some of us came back to school for a few weeks at the end of Year 4 and some of us haven’t been into school since the end of March. Because of this, some of us will be feeling a mixture of excitement and nervousness (including the adults), so we thought it would be helpful to let you know what it will be like when you start Year 5.

As you may already know, your first two days back will be with Year 4 teachers but you’ll have a chance to meet your new teacher on those first couple of days. From Monday 7th September, you’ll be with your new teacher, and your time in Year 5  will begin.

Here are the answers to a few questions that you might have:

Where should I go at the start of the day?

You will need to enter the school via the entrance next to the Bowls club and make sure you are on the tennis courts at 8:55am. Once on the tennis courts, you will need to stand on one of the white lines around the edge (only one person on each line). Your teacher will come out and collect your class.

What should I bring to school each day?

It is important that you only bring a coat and only your essential items into school, in your book bag. This will include your reading book and reading diary and a named water bottle. You will not be allowed to bring rucksacks or pencil cases into school.

Can I bring in a packed lunch?

Yes, you will still be able to bring in a packed lunch.

What should I wear on my PE days?

On the days that you have PE, you should come to school dressed in your PE kit. Please make sure you consider the weather as you will be wearing this all day. All Year 5  classes will have PE on Tuesday and Thursdays. This will be either indoor or outdoor, so as well as your T-shirt and shorts, jogging bottoms and a warm top would be useful.

We are really looking forward to seeing everyone in September. If you have any other questions, please don’t hesitate to send us an email as detailed in th picture above.

We all look forward to catching up soon,

The Year 5 Team
