Year 4 Home Learning – Friday 3rd July 2020
Hello! In this blog you will find your maths, English and geography task for Friday. We have also included a little starter to make sure your brain is warmed up before you start.
Have a look at film poster on the PowerPoint and answer the following questions.
1. What film is this poster advertising?
2. How can you tell that they are flying?
3. How does the illustrator show you that he is a strong superhero?
Today is the last lesson of our character description unit. Click on the link to access the lesson: https://classroom.thenational.academy/lessons/character-description-write-a-character-description-bceff8
Firstly, complete the quiz to check your learning from previous lessons. Then you are going to write your own character description. Don’t panic – Mrs Cooke will show you a WAGOLL (what a good one looks like) on the video. She will also help you with your planning. We have attached all of the planning information to a PowerPoint for you. We are looking forward to reading your character descriptions!
You will be comparing and classifying quadrilaterals based on their properties in today’s lesson. Look at the PowerPoint and watch the video. You will be answering deep dive questions for your independent work.
Topic (Geography) Task:
This week, we are going to learn about what climate is. We are also going to compare the climate in Athens to the climate in Bridlington. Read the PowerPoint and then choose a worksheet to complete. Remember to present your line graph neatly.
An Extra Challenge:
Here is a challenge for the children who would like some extra work. You are going to become detectives and solve the mystery of the missing medals!
Firstly, you need to decide whether you would like to take on the 1 star, 2 star or 3 star challenge. When you have decided what level you would like to complete, read the text to find out what happened when the Headteacher of Six Oaks Primary School discovered that the Sports Day medals had gone missing. Then use the deduction worksheet to help you solve the mystery. (Remember to choose the same level). We have uploaded the answers so you can check to see if you are correct!
This week, we would like to give our Year 4 artists the chance to shine! We would like you to watch the following video on the Oak National Academy website – https://classroom.thenational.academy/lessons/texture-treasure-hunt-363e14 You will be participating in a texture treasure hunt. We are looking forward to seeing your masterpieces!
It is really important to stay active! Try some outdoor activities whilst the sun is out! Here are a couple of ideas for the rainy days:

Frozen Yoga: https://safeYouTube.net/w/nVDM
Please try and read at least 5 times this week. You can read a variety of different texts. Why don’t you try to read something different? You could also sign up to the library summer reading challenge (https://summerreadingchallenge.org.uk/)
Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any questions. We would love to see what you have been doing, so please continue to send us your work! Remember to let us know if you would like any photos uploaded onto the Year 4 gallery.
