Year 4 Home Learning - Wednesday 24th June 2020

Hello!  In this blog you will find your maths, English and science task for Wednesday. We have also included a little music (beatboxing)  task we thought you might enjoy. Don’t forget to try the starter to make sure your brain is warmed up before you start.

Starter:

Watch the advert  (https://safeYouTube.net/w/c1pM) and answer the following questions:

  1. What do the five ‘s’ words instruct people to do?
  2. Who do you think the advert is aimed at? Why?
  3. What has the makers done to make the advert successful?

English Task:

Today we are going to learn how to use possessive apostrophes correctly. Firstly, read the PowerPoint and have a go at the tasks on it. Then choose a worksheet to complete. All of the worksheets are in one document. Check on the PowerPoint to make sure you are completing the right task.

Maths Task:

Today we are going to learn how to calculate a missing angle in a triangle. There are lots of videos on the PowerPoint to help you. After you have finished looking at the PowerPoint, choose a worksheet to complete.

Topic (Science) Task:

This week we are going to learn about carnivores, omnivores and herbivores.. Have a look at the PowerPoint and then choose a worksheet to complete.

Topic (Music) Task:

Watch this clip on the Oak National Academy website - https://classroom.thenational.academy/lessons/to-beatbox-using-rhythmic-patterns-86711c

This week we are going to have a go at beatboxing. Are you feeling brave? Try recording yourself and send it to your teachers. We are really excited to see what you come up with!

Additional Tasks:

You have been learning at home for a while now and we know that it is important to look after our mental health. At some point this week, we would like you to have a go at a PSHE task about emotions. Have a look at the pictures on the PowerPoint and try to decide what emotion is being shown. Then choose one of the emotions shown on the PowerPoint and draw a picture or write a paragraph (or both) about an occasion where you felt that emotion. You can find the PowerPoint on Monday’s blog.

It is really important to stay active! Here are a couple of ideas for this week:

Wizard of Oz Yoga: https://safeYouTube.net/w/nWaM

Please try and read at least 5 times this week. You can read a variety of different texts. Why don’t you try to read something different?  You could also sign up to the library summer reading challenge (https://summerreadingchallenge.org.uk/)

Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any questions. We would love to see what you have been doing, so please continue to send us your work! Remember to let us know if you would like any photos uploaded onto the Year 4 gallery.
