Year 3 Home Learning Thursday 4.3.21

Today is World Book Day! If your child would like to dress up as a favourite book character for World Book Day, they are more than welcome to, but there is no expectation that children do this.

Today we would like you to think about your favourite books and your favourite book characters. Perhaps you could choose your favourite book and share it with a grown up?  We will be learning about the author Roald Dahl, already Farah class have read The Twits and Ennis - Hill class have read Fantastic Mr Fox, so we thought this would be a good author to look at in a little more detail as we know his work is popular in Year 3!  We will then look at one of his works of Poetry called “Little Red Riding Hood and the Wolf.”

You can explore the PowerPoint slides about Roald Dahl, you may like to make your own factsheet about him or even do some more of your own research! If you were in the live lesson you may want to remind yourself, the slides are attached on the blog.

Little Red Riding Hood and the Wolf

Read the pdf of the poem.  Can you identify the pairs of rhyming words? How would you describe the characters?  Was there anything that surprised you about the poem and why?

Task:

Using the Little Red Riding Hood and the Wolf poem, we would like you to create a comic strip to retell the story within the poem.

For today we thought that you could choose two activities that you would like to complete from the blog:  https://www.thrapston-primary.northants.sch.uk/news/?pid=253&nid=54&storyid=1682
