Year 3 Home Learning Friday 12.2.21

We have reached the last day of Term 3 and we are so proud of every single one of you. The way you have all adapted to this new way of learning has been amazing. We hope you have a well deserved rest over half term.

English Task

L.O: To be able to think about wellbeing and ways to stay mentally healthy.

Today in English, we are going to be exploring a ‘Mental Wellbeing Challenge booklet’.  During the live lesson, we are going to explore themes that will help us complete the booklet and also think about ways that we can keep our minds healthy.  We will be discussing our thoughts and ideas.

We will be thinking about:

  • Appreciating people
  • Our wellbeing and resilience
  • Good deeds
  • Kindness

We will also be thinking about the 5 ways to wellbeing including; keep learning, give, connect, be active and take notice.  Looking after your own wellbeing will help build your resilience and be able to take on life’s challenges.

You can print the booklet or you can use this information to help you create your own booklet. You can complete the practical tasks over the coming weeks rather than feeling like you have to do everything at once!

Maths Task

L.O: To understand how to calculate all possible combinations for a given problem.

Today we are going to learn how to solve problems where you have to find all of the possible combinations.  If you miss the live teaching or want to go over anything again, have a look at the attached PowerPoint. You will be able to work through some “find all the possibilities” problems.

For your independent task, you can choose your own level of challenge. Your resources are attached at the bottom of the blog.

Blue Challenge: Download the blue maths challenge document – You will see some different ice cream flavours and toppings.

Jayden isn’t sure which ice cream or which topping to get. List all the different combinations he could choose.

You might like to use the table on the document to help record the different possibilities.

Green Challenge: Download the green maths challenge document – You have got two “find all the possibilities” problems to work out.

White Challenge: Download the white maths challenge document – Have a look at the indoor and outdoor activities. You have got 3 “find all the possibilities” questions based on those activities.

Art Task

LO – To create a piece of Art using the theme of Winter.

Task:  Today we are letting you choose what you would like to do, our only direction is that it is a piece of art work to do with the theme of Winter!  You could draw a picture of a winter scene, maybe draw animals that you might see in winter. You could use paint or other materials to create your masterpiece.  The choice is yours!   Have fun and be creative, use the resources that you have at home.  We would love to see a picture of your finished piece!

Extension: You could write about your piece of Art work, explaining what you did and how.  You could say what went well, what you like about your piece and what you would like to improve.

Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any questions.

Take care and stay safe!
