Here are the tasks for Thursday.

English Task

L.O: To be able to write descriptive paragraphs.

For today’s task we would like you to imagine it is the day of the thank you celebration and George is feeling very excited!  Your task today is to write some descriptive paragraphs of the event.  Write as if you are George (use I).

You are going to start from George getting ready at home, his arrival and then entering and enjoying the party.

Use all the senses to write some descriptive sentences. Use all the FANTASTICS to help you do this like we do in class.

First of all do a little bit of planning – write down some ideas for

  • Getting ready – clothes, feelings…
  • Getting to the party and arrival – travel arrangements, first impressions…
  • Party details / Food / Overall feelings of the party

Don’t forget to reread your work and spend some time editing as necessary once you are finished.

Maths Task

L.O: To learn to divide a 2 digit number by a 1 digit number

If you miss the live teaching, we would like you to have a go at top marks daily ten! https://www.topmarks.co.uk/maths-games/daily10 Choose level 3 - multiplication – x3, x4, x8. Let us know how you get on!

We have also attached yesterday’s PowerPoint to the bottom of the blog, in case you need to remind yourself of how to use the bus stop method.

Using the bus stop method, have a go at solving these calculations:

  1. 44 ÷ 2 =
  2. 32  ÷ 2 =
  3. 23  ÷ 3 =
  4. 46  ÷ 2 =
  5. 54  ÷ 4 =

For your independent task, you can choose your own level of challenge. Your resources are attached at the bottom of the blog.

Blue Challenge: Download the blue and green challenges PPT – Have a look at the table on slide 2.  Use the bus stop method to solve the blue questions. We have included the answers on slide 3 for you to check.

Green Challenge: Download the blue and green challenges PPT – Have a look at the table on slide 2.  Use the bus stop method to solve the green questions. We have included the answers on slide 3 for you to check.

Extension: Download the white maths challenge extension document – Use your knowledge of the bus stop method to solve the sports day problem.

Geography

L.O: To name and locate the countries and cities of the UK.

It is our final geography lesson of Term 3 and we are going to concentrate on the United Kingdom. Before you look at the PowerPoint, discuss the following questions with someone at home:

  • What continent is the United Kingdom in?
  • What countries are in the United Kingdom?
  • Can you name any cities in the United Kingdom?
  • Can you name the capital cities of England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland?

Read through the Geography PPT week 6. Afterwards, see if your answers to the questions above are correct.

Activity: Download the Geography independent learning week 6 document. Name the cities on the map. You might have an atlas at home to help you. If not, there is a map of the United Kingdom on the last PowerPoint slide.

Extension:  Download the Geography independent learning week 6 Extension document. You will see a 1 star, 2 star and 3 star worksheets. The more stars a worksheet has, the trickier it is. Choose the level you want to work on and complete the table. You need to think about what north, east, south and west are before you start. Again, the map on the last PowerPoint slide will help you.
