Another Busy Term in Year 3

The year 3 children have had another fantastic term of learning. We are very proud of all they have achieved.

In English this term we have been looking at myths and legends. After watching the video 'The Dragon Slayer' the children told the story from the slayer's perspective. We built the story up by modelling a variety of sentence structures for the children to use. They then independently wrote from the baby dragon's perspective and we were so impressed with the language and sentence features they were able to show in their writing. Well done year 3!

In maths we have been exploring addition and subtraction. The children have been taught the formal column methods and have shown confidence in using this. Any extra input you could give the children on their quick recall of addition and subtraction facts within 20 would still be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

The children have amazed us with their enthusiasm for the science topic 'rocks and soils'. We have had rocks and fossils brought in from the children's own collections and they have proudly showed them to the class.

We have now completed the prehistory topic and the children have learnt a lot! They have explored this area through their art work also this term through looking at cave paintings. They were also excited to use the art room and make some clay beads when learning about the bronze age.

Computing lessons is another area of excitement as the children have been working on 'scratch'. They have impressed us with their knowledge and their ability to explore and work things out. We will be continuing with this after the holiday.

So well done year 3. You all deserve a good rest now!

Wishing you and your families a wonderful Christmas time.
