Welcome to Year 2!
We have had a lovely first few days with the children, settling them into Year 2. They are already working really hard and we are pleased with the positive start the children have made to the year.
We have been thinking about what we are thankful for so that each member of the class can create their own prayer for our class prayer book. The children had some lovely suggestions for this showing real empathy for others.
All children should have brought a reading book home, please try to read at home 5 times a week if possible. Children will earn a raffle ticket each week they have at least 5 home reads to enter the next Reading Raffle.
We have also sent spellings home for the children to practise, which can be found inside their reading diaries. The children will be tested weekly on these so please help to practise them at home when you are able to.
Soon we will also be starting times tables tests with the children, further details will be sent out when this is due to commence. All children will start with the 10x table, feel free to practise at home in the meantime. PE days are as follows:
Squirrels - Tuesday and Thursday
Hedgehogs - Monday and Friday
Please make sure children have a named PE kit in school, in addition to shorts and t-shirt please ensure children have jogging bottoms, a jumper and plimsolls as we will be outside once per week.
We're really looking forward to the Term ahead. If you have any questions or queries please feel free to speak to a member of the Year 2 team.
