Year 2 End of Term Updates

What a wonderful term we have had with our Year 2 children.

We had a fabulous day celebrating the Queen’s Jubilee. It was lovely to see the children come to school in their outfits from the 1990s or dressed in red, white and blue. The Spice Girls even made an appearance thanks to a very creative and imaginative group of girls in the year group (and their parents). The children had lots of fun trying to guess who the member of staff was from a set of photos from the 1990s and they worked together to create a 1990s themed collage using the Queen’s head which has been displayed in the main reception, together with the other year groups work. Much laughter and excitement were had in the task of designing a pair of the Queen’s knickers!

We would like to say huge congratulations to the children for working so hard to complete their SATS this term. They took the challenges in their stride and adapted to the changes to their usual routines well. They should all be very proud of themselves because we are certainly proud of them.

Next term will see a return to our usual weekly spellings and multiplication tests, so please ensure that you are practising these daily at home with your children.

In our DT lessons next term, the children will be learning some sewing skills, involving how to make a running stitch and create a pouch. Please can we ask that you check at home to see if you have any of the following materials to spare such as, children's needles, needle threaders, embroidery thread and scraps of felt. We would greatly appreciate any donations.

We will be having Sports Day next term which parents will be invited to attend on 7th July. A letter will be sent home in due course outlining all the relevant information.

Thank you for your continued support this term and we hope you have a restful and enjoyable half-term week with your loved ones.
