9/12/21 Year 2 blog
We have been looking at poetry in our English lessons. The children have learnt what a stanza is and how to structure poems. They wrote their own poems based on what they like to see, hear, feel, taste and smell at Christmas- their poems certainly made us feel very Christmassy!
Our classrooms were taken over by moving monsters during one afternoon as children brought their designs to life in their DT lesson. The children used their knowledge of pivots and levers to create some fun, colourful and sometimes scary moving monsters.
Frosty Fun Day was a huge success! Year Two took on the challenge of decorating our snow angels’ dresses with as many snowflakes as they could with great enthusiasm. The children filled the classrooms with paper blizzards as they snipped away, creating the most magical snowflakes.
Not being able to put on a Christmas production has not deterred us from getting into the Christmas spirit. The children have been busy creating and recording a PowerPoint presentation all about what Christmas was like around the time of the Great Fire of London. They have been singing carols such as Silent Night and Oh Come All Ye Faithful.
We are looking forward to holding our Christmas party on Wednesday 15th December. The children may come to school in their party clothes. Please do not bring any party food.
As this term draws to a close, we would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your continued support. We know this time of year is extremely busy but do take the opportunity to read as much as you can with your child- find a Christmas tale, a warm blanket and maybe even a hot chocolate and enjoy some quality time together.
From all of the Year Two team- we wish you a very merry and peaceful Christmas and a Happy New Year and we look forward to seeing you in 2022!
