Y2 Introduction to Home Learning

An introduction to Y2 Home Learning.

Hello, and Happy New Year.

We were looking forward to getting back to school, and starting our new term, but unfortunately, we have a little while longer to wait until we can all be together. Whilst some of the learning will look a little different, we will do our very best to share as much as possible with you.

We are looking forward to having some of the children in school.  But, for those children at home we hope that you will be able to join us for our daily live learning lessons via TEAMs, 9.00am – 10.30am. Details of this have been emailed out to you with your link to join.  (The link for the meeting has been sent to the same email address that we sent your child’s report to.  If this has since changed or you would prefer us to use an alternative email address, then please let us know promptly.) We recommend you download the TEAMs app, you do not need a login for this, it will just open the app when you click the link as opposed to the internet browser.  When your child joins the meeting, please ensure that their microphone is on mute, but the camera is turned on. We will ask the children to turn on their microphones when required, so, if possible, please show them how to do this.

Please do bear with us, this will be a new experience for us and the children and we fully anticipate, when using technology, that things might not always go to plan.

The live learning session is quite a long session so we will build in some short activities or breaks. During the live learning session, we plan to discuss learning done on the previous day and deliver both an English and Maths lesson. Please ensure that your child has a pencil/ pen and paper ready for each live learning session.  After the live lesson, we will send a follow-up blog with resources and additional tasks.  If you miss the live learning session, or anything in it, we will post relevant narrated PowerPoints with the blog.

We use the terminology ‘Yellow Level’, ‘Blue Level, ‘Green Level’, ‘Pink Level’ or ‘White Level’. This is what we use in school to differentiate the children’s learning. The children are very familiar with this terminology, and should know which level they usually do in different subject areas. If you or your child are unsure which level to pick, please email and ask your class teacher.

When you have done some work, remember to take a photo, or scan, and send to your child’s teacher. We will be pleased to receive any work, and will provide feedback as soon as possible.  If you send us work and you would like us to put it in our online ‘gallery’, please say in the email that you give permission for us to share it, as we cannot share anything without your permission.

We will give children Dojos for their work, and add them onto the class Dojo site, as we would if we were in school normally.

The Year 2 team will access their emails regularly, so if you have a question, comment or would like to show us what you have been doing at home, then please do not hesitate to contact us.
