Y2 Update

As we approach the end of November, we thought we would share some of what Y2 have been up to in recent weeks.

In English lessons, at the beginning of the month, our fantastic children worked hard to produce some seasonal poetry - we were really pleased with their creative ideas and vocabulary. In recent weeks, the children have researched their class animal and written fact files about them. Ask your child a fact about their class animal - they are sure to amaze you with what they have learnt!

In Maths, we have continued to learn how to add and subject 2 digit numbers. The children are doing really well, and are beginning to be able to apply their skills quickly and accurately.

In Geography, we have started to learn about hot and cold places. The children particularly enjoyed comparing Kenya and Iceland.

In Science, we have just started to learn about the suitability of materials.

Last week, the children really enjoyed taster sessions from Fiesta Sports Coaching: Adventure Club and Dance Club. If your child is interested in the club, please check your emails from the office about how to sign up.

We are rapidly approaching Christmas. Please look out for a letter in the coming week about arrangements. We are looking forward to celebrating Christmas, with the children, over the coming weeks.

Just a word about water bottles. As we are allowing the children to have their bottles on their tables, we are finding that we are having a few water bottle spillages. If your child has a water bottle with a sports cap/ top, please could we request that they use that where possible. In addition, please can we remind you, that unless previously agreed, children should only have water in their bottles.

Thank you for your continued support with reading, spellings and times tables. It is wonderful to see the children making progress with their times tables, and spellings. The children also love to receive reading raffle tickets: we will draw the raffle on the last day of term.

Best wishes,

Year 2 Team
