Y2 Welcome Back!

Welcome back to Year 2!

Hello Year 2 Families,

We hope that you have had a good summer break and that you have been able to do some fun activities. We are excited for the new school year and ready to go!

Some of you came back to school for a few weeks at the end of Year 1, but for many, you haven’t been into school since the end of March. Because of this, some children (and adults) will be feeling a mixture of excitement and nervousness, so we thought it would be helpful to let you know what it will be like when you start Year 2.

Year 2 children will start their day at 8.50am and will finish school at 3.05pm.

On the first day back (Thursday 3rd September), come to the Y1/2 playground, at 8.50am, where you will be greeted on the playground and your child's old Year 1 teacher will take the class to their old Year 1 classroom, where they will spend the day together. This will also be repeated on Friday 4th September.

From Monday 7th September, your child/ren will be with their new teacher, and their time in Year 2 will begin.

Here are the answers to a few questions that you might have:

Where should we go at the start of the day?

Bring your child up the path opposite the Peace Park on to the Year 1/2 playground. At 8.50am, the children will be collected, from the playground, by their teacher.

Parents should exit the site down the main drive.

What should I bring to school each day?

It is important that children only bring a coat (hat and sun cream if we have a nice September) and essential items into school, in their book bag. This will include their reading book and reading diary and a named water bottle. Children will not be allowed to bring rucksacks or pencil cases into school.

Can I bring in a packed lunch?

Yes, you will still be able to bring in a packed lunch.

What should I wear on my PE days?

On the days that you have PE, you should come to school dressed in your PE kit. Please make sure you consider the weather as the children will be wearing this all day. PE will be either indoor or outdoor, so as well as t-shirt and shorts, jogging bottoms and a warm top would be useful.
