Year 1 tasks for Wednesday 3.3.21.
Apologies for the delay, here are the Year 1 lessons for today.
English – Live Online session 9:00 – 10:30
LO: To be able to write a diary.
I know that a diary is writing about something ‘I’ have done.
I can use a capital for ‘I’
I can use days of the week.
I can write in sentences.
I can use the past tense.
I can join ideas using ‘and’.

Using the attached diary checklist and their plan from yesterday, children should talk through what they did each day. Then, recording the day first then should write their diary entry for the day.
DO NOT WRITE FURTHER THAN THURSDAY – WILL CONTINUE FROM THERE IN THE LESSONS TOMORROW.
Maths-
LO: To be able to measure and compare length in cm.
I can use a ruler correctly.
I can record the length of an object accurately.
I can compare lengths in cm.
I can solve problems about length in cm.

Phonics –
Your child should know which group they go to for phonics. If they are unsure, please contact us and we will let you know. Below are the sounds that the children can practice next using some of the links below.
You should have been emailed the link for the live session for your child’s group. If you do not have this then please contact their class teacher and they will send you the correct link as each link is different for each group.

Science L.O: To be able to observe closely using simple equipment and use these observations to suggest answers to questions.
I can use equipment appropriately.
I can describe what I see verbally.
I can answer questions based on my observations.
You will need:
A packet of vegetable soup.
A magnifying object e.g. magnifying glass/ phone camera to zoom in.
Tweezers.
- Observe the soup carefully.
- Sort out the different vegetables and label.
- Look at them under a magnifying glass.
- Compare dried vegetables with fresh ones. How are they the same, how are they different?
- Pour warm water over them describe how the vegetables change.
- Why would Explorers use dried food over canned or fresh vegetables?
