Here are the Year 1 tasks for Thursday 25.2.21.
English – Live Online session 9:00 – 10:30
LO: To be able to write a diary.
I know that a diary is writing about something ‘I’ have done.
I can use a capital for ‘I’
I can use days of the week.
I can write in sentences.
I can use the past tense.
I can join ideas using ‘and’.

Children can write their diary entry alongside the video, pausing as they go along. Or watch all of the video to begin with and write afterwards.
Children should ONLY write up to Wednesday as in the video, we will continue from Thursday tomorrow. (Of course, if you’re on a roll and you want to complete it then that’s fine, but please check back for the SPAG task at the start of tomorrow’s lesson video.)
Yellow – Write a sentence using ‘I’ to imagine they are the wombat. (The mask may help if you made one yesterday)
Blue – Record the day of the week and 1 sentence to say what ‘I’ did, imagining they are the wombat.
Green – Write their diary entry using the days and at least 2 sentences for each day.
White – Write their diary entry using the days and as many sentences as they can for the day – using ‘and’ to link some of these together.
Maths – LO: To be able to measure length using non-standard units of measure.
I can measure accurately making sure all objects I measure with are the same size and are next to one another.
I can measure accurately using non-standard units of measure.
I can select the correct non-standard unit of measure.
I can predict and compare non-standard of unit of measures.

Have a go at non- standard measuring around your house, you can use any objects to measure with but remember these rules.
- You start at the end of what your measuring and finish at the other.
- You make sure the objects you’re measuring with are put next to each other like in the video and are the same size.
Remember you can use any objects or example: pegs, pencils, even your hands.

Your child should know which group they go to for phonics. If they are unsure, please contact us and we will let you know. Below are the sounds that the children can practice next using some of the links below.
You should have been emailed the link for the live session for your child’s group. If you do not have this then please contact their class teacher and they will send you the correct link as each link is different for each group.

Geography –
LO: To be able to identify the four countries of the UK.
I know that I live in the UK.
I know that UK is short for United Kingdom.
I can name some of the countries in the UK.
I know which country in the UK I live in.
I can label the countries of the UK with some guidance.
I can identify all 4 countries of the UK on a map.
I can label the countries of the UK using a word bank to help me.
I know which continent in the world the UK is in.
I can label the 4 countries independently.

Children to identify the 4 countries of the UK on a map. If you are unable to print this then choosing the colour level map ask children to identify which countries are where on the map.
EXTENSION: Children to tell you or write down facts they already know about the UK. They may recall places within the UK that they have visited or where other family members might live, as well as any landmarks they may have heard of as some examples.
If they do not know anything to tell you, that is also fine, don’t worry, we will be learning plenty in this unit.
