English –

LO: To be able to write dictated sentences.

Listen carefully to a sentence.

Use finger spaces.

Use a capital letter and a full stop.

Use phonic knowledge to spell accurately.

Read common exception words correctly.

Task:

Using the attached document 'Dictated Sentences - ALL Groups', choose the colour level and read the sentence aloud to your child.  You can repeat this but see if they can retain the sentence and record it themselves.  They should try to use their phonics and spelling knowledge to record the sentence.  You can check the sentence together afterwards.  If it seems very easy for them then try the sentence that is next in the list on the attached document.

 

There are some additional 'tricky word' sheets attached at the bottom of the blog too, all labelled by colour. These are completely OPTIONAL and children do not have to complete them as part of today's lesson.

Your child should know which group they go to for phonics. If they are unsure, please contact us and we will let you know.  Below are the sounds that the children can practice next using some of the links below.
