L.O. To be able to compare groups of objects.
I can count how many objects are in each group.
I can use greater than and less than when comparing objects.
I can decide whether there are more or less objects in one group than another.
Starter: Play video which includes Maths vocabulary needed for this lesson. https://video.link/w/eEADb
Main teaching: Please play and join in with the tasks on this teaching video https://vimeo.com/483168827
Activities:
- Use objects from around the house and put them into 2 groups.
- Ask your child if they can count the number of objects in each group.
- Can your child say or write down which group has less, which group has more? Child can record if possible.
Ask your child to count a group of objects and then to create another group of that is either greater than or less than the first group.
English –
L.O. To be able to add ‘ed’ to past tense verbs.
Know what a verb is.
Identify which words to add ‘ed’ to.
Record past tense verbs in sentences.
Know why we add ‘ed’ to verbs.
Can you remember what a verb is? Can you act out these verbs: hop, jump, sit, walk? Can you think of some others?

Attached at the bottom of the blog are your tasks. There is a Yellow task, this one is a more introductory practice looking at the verbs and just adding -ed. You don’t need to print it, you could write the words out on your own paper, using the sheet on screen to help you.
The other document is the ‘Main Tasks’. In here there are 3 challenge levels – the * (one star) work would be Blue level, the ** (two star) would be Green level and the *** (three star) would be White level. Children only need to choose one level of challenge, they should know which they are most likely to choose in school and do that one. It asks for them to add -ed to the verbs as well as write them out in sentences. Again this can be done onto paper and doesn’t need to be printed out.
Phonics –
Your child should know which group they go to for phonics. If they are unsure, please contact us and we will let you know. Below are the sounds that the children can practice next using some of the links below.
Phonics Play login details – Username: Thrapston Password: Thrapston
Please see the attached document for the phonics tasks, which will last for the week. You can do these daily to repeat them or spread them out across the week once the sound has been introduced.
Geography –
LO: To be able to identify features of the school grounds.
I can say what things I can see at school.
I can talk about where different features are found.
I can share my favourite feature of the school grounds.
I can explain why that feature is my favourite.
Watch the teaching video here: https://video.link/w/1wHDb
Look at the ‘I spy’ task attached. Talk to a family member about the things that you can see in the school grounds to finish each ‘I spy’ statement. Can you think of something for all of them?
Draw your favourite part of the school grounds. Label your picture to show at least 3 different features. Remember you can’t include things that leave that space, for example, your friends. Extension – Write a sentence or two to explain why this is your favourite feature of the school grounds. You might prefer to draw and label your picture and then record a short video explaining why it is your favourite feature instead.
Additional task – In the video we said that you might also want to draw your least favourite feature of the school grounds. You can label that and as a further extension write a sentence or two explaining why it is your least favourite.
Don’t forget to send us some of your pictures or maybe even videos in. We might even be able to share some in our online sessions!
Handwriting - L.O. To form the letters V and W correctly.
