Y1 Reminders and Information

Spellings - This week we sent home spellings with the children in their reading diaries. Please could you help the children to practise these. You can use a look-cover-say-write-check method, write them in different colours, write them in the steam on the bathroom mirror/condensation on the windows, type them into a phone/tablet, the list goes on. We will be sending these out fortnightly with the children and testing them fortnightly too. We will be testing spellings with the children on a Wednesday afternoon. The children will then get their results and their new spellings on the following Tuesday. This is so both stickers can be put in the diaries together to limit the number of times that we are touching the home reading diaries.
Recycling - Thank you to those of you who have brought in recycling for us. We are still after any cardboard tubes, plastic bottle tops and any containers such as yogurt pots that we can use for our Science at the end of the month.
Maths Week/Day - Next week we will be joining in with Maths week, promoting all areas of maths including number, shape and pattern. On Monday 9th November children are invited to come into school wearing a maths themed outfit. This could be as simple as a football shirt with a number on the back, a t-shirt or jumper with numbers, shapes or repeating patterns on it. We are looking forward to seeing how creative the ideas are to help us celebrate Maths!
Photos - The children will be having their photos taken in school on Friday 13th November, please remind them to bring their big beaming smiles that day!
If you have any questions or queries please feel free to speak to any adult at school or email us.
