Y1 Settling In

We thought we would share a blog with you to let you know how the children are settling into Year 1.

We are really impressed with how well the children have gotten used to the new routines and timings in school.  They have all become increasingly independent in remembering what things they need to get organised as they come into the class.

We have been working on labels and captions in English which has given the children the opportunity to practise using their phonics in their writing.  They are all trying really hard and we are very proud of them.

The children are bringing home reading books.  Please write in your child's home reading record any times that you read at home.  We will check these on Friday. This is the only day that school staff will be handling or looking in the home diaries, so if you do have any messages before a Friday please either email us or speak to us. We are recording the times we read with the children in school in a separate diary, so please do make sure that your child brings their book to school each day.

A reminder that on our PE days the children can come to school in their PE kit.  We have PE on the following days:

Dragonfly Class - Tuesday & Friday

Bumblebee Class - Monday & Friday

Please do check our term notes to see what other areas we will be learning about this term.  We will also be sharing another blog soon with ideas of activities you might like to do at home, particularly if your child needs to isolate.

Many Thanks,

Year 1 Team
