Primary School

Diwali week and other reception messages.

As part of our work looking at different celebrations this week we are talking about Diwali.

We learnt about the story of Rama and Sita - watch the story here and we enjoyed learning about how Diwali is all about celebrating good and sweet things. Also we know it is called the festival of lights and talked about the diva lamps people put in their windows.

Mrs Patel talked to us about the special food and decorations - some of us have had a go at rangoli patterns and mendhi hand patterns.

Our children have been working really hard with their sound and word tubs - you should have been given a sticker saying how many of the sounds we have learnt, your child remembered. We will also be sending home some phonic cards this week. Please leave the plastic wallet in their book bag so we can add to it when we learn even more sounds. These are another way you can earn a read in their diary - there is a covering letter but please ask if you are unsure.

And a reminder please for the Safeguarding forms to be returned to us as soon as possible with your safeword for your child. Thank you for those that have already come back.

Thanks again for all of the ILD observations and comments - they are really helping us to get to know your child and planning further learning opportunities for them.
