Nursery Home Learning Update 7th May 2020

Hello everyone,

We hope that you are enjoying your time at home and staying safe. Here are a couple of new learning ideas.

1. Learn about VE day. If you would like to chat to your child about the meaning of VE day, we have found a helpful PowerPoint which talks about its importance at an age appropriate level. On Friday, you could look at it together and then throw your own little party to celebrate! You could make a picnic to eat at home, or even in your garden, and you could make some VE day inspired decorations, such as flag bunting.

2. Watch the Jessie and Friends video to learn about online safety. As lock down has given us lots of extra time to play and watch videos on tablets or other devices, it is now a good opportunity to talk about internet safety. Even at their young age, we can teach nursery children basic skills to protect themselves online. This activity pack, produced by Thinkuknow, is aimed at children aged 4-5 years, so you could have a look at it before hand to decide if you feel it is appropriate for your child. There is a short video to watch and a few activities based around it. You can find the pack and more information at                                                                                         https://www.thinkuknow.co.uk/parents/Support-tools/home-activity-worksheets/early-years/

We hope you have a lovely weekend in the sunshine!

Take care,

The Nursery Team
