The Harp and MORE Fractions

The Year 6 children have impressed us immensely with their creative writing over the last fortnight. From sentence stacking for The Piano, to an independent write based on a similar story to The Piano and then a completely separate short story the children have used outstanding vocabulary, varied sentence structures and they have certainly written for impact.

In maths, we have continued to develop our understanding and skills with fractions. The Year 6 children are now able to add, subtract, times and divide fractions as well as calculate fractions of amounts. Whilst doing this fraction work, the children have consolidated their division skills and realised the importance of multiplication fact recall.

There are some lovely Kandinsky style paintings appearing in Year 6 classrooms and the children have had lots of fun carrying out a science investigation to find out what effects the size and shape of a shadow.
