Tennis stars of the future!

The children have had a fantasticstart to their tennis coaching!

We have been very lucky to have a tennis coach come in and work with each class for a slot on a Wednesday afternoon. So far, the children have learnt and practised a ready position, a forehand, a backhand and how to correctly hit a volley. They have enjoyed playing some games to consolidate what they have learnt, a particular favourite of theirs is 'Skittles'. The children will be continuing these tennis sessions until the end of term.

In our maths lessons, we have continued working hard with measures, this week measuring and estimating capacity before practising adding different capacity amounts using column addition. Next week, we are going to move onto subtracting capacities before tackling some money problems!

We are working hard in our English lessons, using the text 'The Wolves in the Walls' to write our own effective sentences using a range of SPaG techniques and ideas. Next week, the children are going to use what they have learnt to write their own version of the story! Watch this space!

In both of our Science lessons this week, we have learnt about and set up investigations to see the importance of the roots and the stem within a flowering plant. We are continuing to record our results regularly and we have made comparisons between what we have noticed.

Well done everyone! Keep working hard!
