Welcome to the Summer term!
Welcome back to school! We hope you all had a wonderful Easter break!
We have had a very busy start to the new term in Year 3!
In our Maths lessons, we have started learning about measures, this week focusing on lengths. We have measured lengths in cm, mm and m and have started converting between measurements. The children have also practised measuring lengths using different measuring tools. Any further practise of this at home would be great. We are becoming measuring experts!
In our Geography lesson this week, we used atlases to learn about the geographical location of Italy. We have learnt what continent Italy is in, as well as its capital city, neighbouring countries and seas! Feel free to test the children at home! Thank you to all of the children who completed fantastic research about Italy over the holidays. In our lesson this week, we got out our research to help us learn about Italy's location and shared some facts with our friends and classmates. We will continue to use our research each week as we learn more about Italy!
We have also learnt about 'Honesty' which is our focussed school value this term! We considered why it is so important to always tell the truth and we discussed how it feels to tell a lie and then to tell the truth. We all agreed that it was much better to always be honest! We listened carefully to the story of 'The Boy who Cried Wolf' and decided that the boy should have always been honest!
Remember, our Reading Raffle competition is up and running. You've got to be in it to win it so make sure you are reading five times a week at home and recording these home reads in your reading record.
Well done on a great first week back everyone!
