It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year!
Christmas has well and truly arrived in Year Three!
Firstly, we would like to say a huge well done to all of the Year 3 children for putting on two fantastic Christmas concerts last week. The dancers, readers and singers were all fantastic. Thank you also to all the family and friends who supported the children during the concerts.
We have continued with the Christmas theme in our English lessons. The children have learnt what an acrostic poem is and have practised using different poetry tools, including alliteration, power of three adjectives and similes. The children then completed their own Christmas acrostic poems using these poetry tools. We will be continuing with our Christmas poetry this week...
In our Maths lessons, the children have been using rounding to estimate answers to addition and subtraction calculations. We then checked how close our estimates were using our knowledge of column addition and column subtraction.
We are looking forward to the final few days of the term - we have lots more Christmassy activities and fun planned!
Just a reminder, the Year 3 Christmas Party is during the afternoon of Tuesday 18th December. A small contribution of sweet or savoury food will be very much appreciated for this. Many thanks.
