Primary School

We are Geologists!

We have had a fantastic few weeks in Science continuing with our Rocks and Soils topic!

We have learnt the names of the three types of rocks - igneous, sedimentary and metamorphic and we have learnt the story of 'Roger Rock' and discovered how he turned into 'Simon Soil'.. We have planned and carried out an investigation to compare and see how much different rocks erode.

We compared slate and chalk and we tried hard to ensure that our investigation was fair. How did we make it a fair test?

Take a look at some of our fun experiment below!

In Maths, we have been continuing to develop our understanding of place value. We have practised counting in multiples of 4, 8, 50 and 100. We have also practised finding 10/100 more/less of a three digit number. We looked carefully at each digit and we thought carefully about what happens.

In English, we have been reading the book 'Stone Age Boy'. We have imagined the type of conversations that the characters would have said to each other and we acted these out. We then worked hard using what we have already learnt about direct speech to write out the conversations imagined as a piece of dialogue.

One more week until half term. Keep going Year 3!
