End of Term preparation.
We have been very busy getting ready for the end of term events.
We are coming to the end of the second term in Year 1 and things don't look like they are slowing down!
We have been very busy over the last few weeks with our learning. In maths we have been looking at 2d and 3d shapes and using mathematical language to describe them We have also looked at positional language and turning things through quarter / half and full terns.
In our writing we have been writing letters of all sorts - postcards, informal chatty ones, letters to Father Christmas and invitations. We have been working very hard in our phonic sessions too and you can see this in our writing when we use our new digraphs and trigraphs.
We have explored what materials would be good for mermaid scales and have been colour mixing in art. Even our computer lessons have involved looking at the artists Pollock and Mondrian.
Don't forget its our show next week - The Innkeepers Breakfast; which we have been rehearsing for very hard.
We will be performing at 1.30 on Wednesday 12th and 6.00pm on Thursday 13th.
For the evening performance, please bring your child to the Crown building entrance across the bridge at 5.30. We will take them in while you find your seats. At the end we will return your child to you safely in the hall once they have changed.
We will also be visiting St James church on Weds 12th, to learn a little more about the Christmas story and take part in some activities- please make sure your child has a coat that day.
Christmas party - is on the Friday 14th. This is also Christmas Jumper day! If your child wishes to wear something different to the party than they have been in all day then extra party clothes need to come in, in a named carrier bag. If not - party away in those jumpers!
Please remember a small food donation for the party and a monetary one for the jumper collection.
Any cards your child has written can be put in the class sack - if a card is for someone not in our classes please can you help your child by labelling the envelope as to what class they are in and we will get them delivered.
Bring on the jingle bells!
