New Blog Post

A full and busy first week at school!

We are so impressed with how quickly the children have settled in to the new routines and expectations of Reception and it has been great to see all of the children taking on the new challenges on offer.

The children have enjoyed visiting the hall for assembly, as well as going there for lunch and eating with their friends. We have been encouraging the children to be as independent as possible by getting them to open their wrappers or cut their food as best as they can before a grown-up steps in and we have been so impressed! Please continue this at home :)

We had our first PE lesson on Thursday and learned some throwing, catching and balancing skills that the children later practised independently on the playground. We only took our shoes, socks and jumpers or cardigans off for PE this week, but soon we will change in to our full PE kit and it would be really helpful if you could encourage your child to dress and undress themselves each day as practise.

We hope that you have liked seeing pictures and videos on the Interactive Learning Diary (ILD). We will continue to use this as our main way of showing you what your child is doing in school. You can also send pictures or videos to the ILD, especially if you have the class mascot for the weekend, and we will share these with the children. Please see your child's teacher if you are unable to log in.

There were lots of sleepy faces on Friday, so we hope that the children enjoyed their well earned rest over the weekend and are ready for more fun in school!

Thank you for your support,

The Reception Team
