World Book Day 7th March 2019

A wonderful celebration of books and stories…

On Thursday, we celebrated world book day at nursery! It was a busy day, filled with lots of fun activities. Both the children and staff dressed up as their favourite characters and it was lovely to speak to everyone about their costume and their favourite book.

As we had read The Gingerbread Man, we decided to bake yummy gingerbread men. The children worked together and took turns to follow the recipe. After the session, the children got to take their biscuit home – there were a few extra so Miss Emerson, Mrs Walker and Mrs Foley tried one and they were delicious.

We invited the children to bring in their favourite books and we spent time with each child, talking about why they liked their story and what happened in it. At group times, we chose a few of these stories to read out to the rest of the children too.

In the afternoon, year 6 came over to read to the nursery children. Both year groups enjoyed it very much and worked together well.

We can’t wait to dress up again next year!

Thank you,

The Nursery Team :)
