Our Snowy Day Out!

Read all about our fabulously festive day out at West Lodge Rural Centre.

On Wednesday 13th December nearly all of the nursery children, accompanied by a family member and the nursery adults, donned multiple layers of warm clothing and boarded the coach en route to the Christmas Experience at West Lodge Rural Centre. Some children were so excited about the trip they had been up since 4am!

On arrival, we were split into 3 groups and the fun began. We took part in Christmas card-making, reindeer food-making, animal petting and most exciting of all a magical visit to Father Christmas himself! To our relief, all the children had made it onto his "Nice List" (phew!) and were allowed to put in their present requests. These ranged from trumpets to racing cars to spiders so good luck parents!

We also had great fun playing in the adventure playground, despite the thick layer of snow still on the ground although a recurring comment was "My feet are so cold!" This didn't seem to stop the children's enthusiasm for the climbing equipment nor for the barrel ride which was a very popular activity.

To round off our festive themed day, we all took part in a "Live Nativity." The adults provided the vocal and instrumental accompaniment and the children were selected to play various parts - chosen by the fastest raising of the hand. There was even a role for the "fiercely independent business woman in charge of the inn!" The piece de resistance was the singing of Away in a Manger as the full nativity scene was revealed on stage and fake snow fell down from the roof....not a dry eye in the house.

I can confirm that on the coach trip home, multiple children fell asleep plus one or two adults I understand!

Please take a look at the gallery on our nursery page to view lots of photos from the day.

Lastly, I would like to say the children were impeccably behaved throughout the entire day and are a credit to you all.

Wishing you all a very merry festive season,

Mrs Foster
