A Sunny Spring Afternoon

Today we had a picnic lunch followed by an afternoon of outdoor fun!

As it was due to be such a lovely spring day today, we decided we would have our lunch outside on the "Big Playground" sitting on blankets. To begin with we weren't sure if it was going to warm up enough for us to stay outside but then the sun made an appearance and it was positively tropical!

An al fresco lunch enjoyed by all (staff included!), we then packed away remnants of lunch and out came scooters, beanbags, bouncy balls, bicycles and even some twirling ribbons. Some children had brought outdoor toys in from home and it was lovely to see them sharing these with their friends and having such a good time.

When we had worn ourselves out, we stopped for a well earned drink and to listen to some funny stories which we all thoroughly enjoyed before play commenced again for the last few minutes of the school day. At home time, I can say with certainty that some very tired children were dispatched to their parents!

One of our little boys was heard saying "I just love picnics, this is the best day" and later on one of our little girls said to me "I think we should have picnic lunches and twirling every day we are at nursery" and I am inclined to agree!
