Learning to Play an Instrument

At Thrapston, we have a link to Northamptonshire Music and Performing Arts Trust (NMPAT) so that children from year 3 and above are able to access lessons to learn an instrument.  These take place within the school day.

At school, we currently have teachers coming in to provide lessons on guitar, brass, woodwind, strings, piano and drums.

The prices of lessons are £115 per term (£345 a year) for individual 15 minute lessons.

For children in their first year of learning, beginners small group lessons are available (not for piano / drums) at the cost of £80 a term (£240 for the year). This is for a 20 minute lesson (2 students) or 30 minutes (3 - 4 students).

For the first year, children are provided with the instrument free of charge (not guitars, keyboard /piano or drum kits).

If you are interested in your child having instrumental lessons at school with a NMPAT teacher, please email NMPAT at Lessons@NMPAT.co.uk with the subject heading 'want to learn' and give these details

The name of your child

The school they attend

The instrument they would like to learn

Children on Pupil Premium can apply for bursary funding towards the cost of music tuition. Application should be made direct to the school and, if granted, we will inform NMPAT who will invoice the school in respect of this contribution.  You will then receive information from NMPAT about any payment remaining.

Sometimes, children have to be put on a waiting list but often additional teaching time / teachers can be found so that they are able to have a quick start.
