A huge thank you to the families and staff at Thrapston Primary School and the Brooke Weston Trust for supporting our Mufti Day on Friday 27th June! Together, we raised an amazing £587 for Millie, a local girl who recently had her leg amputated and is fundraising for a prosthetic leg. We wore sports clothes in honour of Millie's incredible sporting spirit - she's an inspiration to us all! #MakingMillieMobile #MuftiDay #CommunityKindness

Today our Year 5 children attended the annual Brooke Weston Trust Olympics event at Corby Athletics Stadium. It was the fourth year for the event but only Thrapston Primary's second time attending. The children took part in the javelin, shot put, 'three strides', long jump, sprint and an obstacle course. After lunch, there were three relay races - boys, girls and mixed. All of the activities built up points which were collated at the end into a total. Out of the six primary schools that attended, Thrapston Primary came fourth! All of the adults were so proud of the way the children behaved, participated, encouraged and supported each other. Everyone had a brilliant day - a big thank you to the organisers!

Year 1 had a lovely visit to our local library yesterday. The wonderful volunteers talked the children through how they can join the library and have their very own library card to borrow books with. They also read some stories to the children and explained the Summer Reading Challenge which is coming up. We will be getting more information on this soon

On Friday our Year 2 children took part in "Break the Rules Day!" as a celebration for reaching their class dojo milestones and for all working so hard and trying their very best during their assessments this week The children came into school in non-uniform and some had wonderfully creative hairstyles! They played games, watched films and had ice lollies. The children's favourite rule they broke was being allowed to eat their dessert first at lunchtime! Well done, Year 2, for all your hard work!

Many of our Year 6 children successfully completed their Bikeability cycle training this week - an important step in developing vital life skills. The course began in the safety of the school playground, where they built up their cycling confidence and control. From there, they progressed to riding in the local town, learning how to navigate real roads and safely respond to everyday hazards. Along the way, they developed independence, improved their ability to assess risk, and built confidence on their bikes! We hope lots more of our children will now choose to use cycling as a form of transport, which in turn will have a positive impact on their health and wellbeing as well as the environment

We had a very exciting delivery after school today, thanks to Mrs O'Reilly's dad and his friend! They kindly brought over some tree logs that had been sitting unused on a farm. These logs will now be repurposed as seating around the fire pit in our Forest School area. We are currently in the process of organising fencing to be installed around the forest, and the next big step will be to dig and line the fire pit in the centre of the main clearing. There's lots happening behind the scenes as we continue to develop our TPS Forest School - it's all starting to take shape!

Year 2 travelled back in time to the Victorian era for an incredible day at Holdenby House! They met Mrs Bumbridge, the housekeeper & her staff who soon put them to work. The children were given various job roles such as bell boy, boot boy, laundry maid, valet & kitchen maid. All of the chores were completed as they prepared themselves to meet Her Ladyship. Some of the drudges (the adults) were not up to Mrs Bumbridge's high standards! The children recited the house prayer & entertained Her Ladyship with our excellent rendition of the poem; The Owl & the Pussy-Cat. Much to the children's surprise, Her Ladyship turned out to be our very own Mrs Powell! The children represented TPS beautifully & all of the adults were very proud of them. A great day was had by all!
