New Year, new term!
We've only been back at nursery a week and a half but what a busy time it's been!
Firstly; Happy New Year to everyone! Secondly, we have hit the ground running this term and are well underway with our new Winter topic creating some super winter collages as well as practicing our counting and number recognition; welcoming our new children; celebrating three birthdays by making birthday cakes; dressing up as wild animals in our Zoo outdoor role play area; weighing and measuring babies in our Baby Clinic indoor role play area; visiting the school library AND sharing and discussing story books - phew! You won't be surprised to see photos of some children having a nap!
We are lucky enough to have a very comfy big sofa in one of our rooms and the children love the opportunity to recline on them during group times especially when sharing books (see photo above!) It has proved a great academic support for them too as being so comfortable and relaxed helps them open up verbally and we have had some very entertaining discussions about story books such as We're Going on a Bear Hunt!
Having had such a busy week combined with the excitement of today's all too fleeting snowfall prompted us to decide the children had earned a treat so we all enjoyed a biscuit and a cup of hot chocolate (well - luke warm!) this afternoon - delicious!
