Primary School

A busy start to the new term

Well we've been back to school almost two weeks and what a busy two weeks it's been!

After a much needed week off (children and staff alike!) we have all returned to Nursery full of beans and raring to go! On their return, children were greeted with a Space Station role play area which continues to prove very popular as well as lots of cultural activities as we learned about and celebrated Diwali as part of our new Light and Dark topic. This week, we have been thinking about fireworks and Bonfire Night and the children have had the chance to take part in lots of different firework crafts. These have ranged from paintings using a salad spinner or toothbrushes (!) to lollystick and glittery pipe cleaner sparklers. You can see some examples of these below.

We have also been thinking about Rememberance Day and the children have been making their own glittery poppies.

This week, we have started thinking about our handwriting and some children have had a little go at writing their names. Believe it or not this has proved a popular activity too as several children have begged to "have a go!" It is lovely to see their enthusiasm and engagement across the range of activities and myself and the rest of the Nursery team continue to be impressed with the "Can-do" attitude so many of them demonstrate. Not a day goes by when one or other of them doesn't make me smile and reminds me why I love my job! I look forward to all the exciting activities ahead of us leading up to Christmas!
